Will America Fail?

I would like to be a bit serious and talk about the euphoria some of us were caught up in during this election. I wonder if we still recognize that these are very troublesome times. We have a lot of serious problems still to solve. President Elect Obama is going to need our help and cooperation to solve them.

I did not vote for Obama, and I was very vocal about my feelings toward him as a presidental candidate. Nevertheless, he is going to be our next president; he needs us to stop the polarization caused by the elections. We must unite together and stand behind him. Remember that if he fails, so do we! We had better get our act together and help him succeed as our president, like him or not!

Now that I have said this, I want to remind you that Congress has a huge responsibility, aside from the president’s. That means we MUST KEEP CONGRESS IN LINE WITH CORE VALUES, VALUES THAT MAKE US A STRONG AND VIBRANT SOCIETY. And, we MUST NOT ALLOW THEM to tax us to death either during these hard times. That would be just plain dumb!

Congress has a tendency to forget values. I think the problem is many of them have lost their own core values when they went into politics.

We need to remind Congress that they represent ALL the people. They also need to be reminded that they cannot compromise conservative values, but at the same time, they need to be conservative in satisfying the liberal movement as well.

We cannot afford to stubbornly resist finding common ground with each other that the majority can agree upon. We need to support each other as one nation UNDER GOD, not forgetting that “one nation under God” is the fabric of the Constitution and the foundation of our Democracy.

I hope you realize that many of the Europeans countries are banking on the United States failing, that we will break apart like the USSAR and other nations have in the past. We’ve even seen emails stating that a Democracy can’t live for very many years.

European countries do not believe that Americans can hold it together when there is so much division among us. They see all the garbage we sprew on their televisions, and they see all the discord among us. They see that liberals and conservatives are involved in a “tug of war” with both sides insisting their position is right, and the Democrats and Republican’s  “tug of war” as well.

The problem is that politicians have orchestrated this polarization for political advantage.  Although I hate to admit it, we are following right along with it like the “piper” and his musical magic. We cannot allow politicians to do that to us. We must recognize their motives and not be drawn into their political game.

“President Obama” needs to reconcile with both the conservatives and the liberals, and the people need to do the same. If we do not, then we will fail as a country. Just like other civilizations have in the past, and some threaten to do now. Is that what we really want for America? NO? Then help me get this message out to people.

Let us try to take care of each other in these trying times, and let us try to help our leaders lead us in cooperation with each other. We need to hold our politicians accountable, tell them we expect their cooperation, and remind them that we expect them to remember the interests of this nation as a whole.

  1. I would like to say that Europe’s countries are just as much “garbage” as we are, if not more. We also should not tell the Congress what to do. Sure, I’m a Christian, but how would forcing the the United States to go Conservative help? I am sure you think me crazy by now, being fourteen and all this. If you think you can be happy in your democracy, then I am entitled to be happy in anarchy, am I not?

  2. I do not think you are crazy and I agree that you should believe as you do. Yes, you can be happy in any type of government, it is a choice to be happy. However, since democracy is our way of life, we make plans for our future based on our way of life. If we do not protect our way of life, we will not have what we love and believe in. We will not have the freedoms we enjoy now.

Congress is supposed to represent the people, so yes, we need to make Congress accountable for the work they do in our behalf. That is what we sent them there to do. If they do not, if they forget why they are there, if they become part of the problem and no part of the solution, then they need to be replaced. Conservative or not, Christian or not, they have to represent us as a nation and as the majority. That is the type of government we have and they must be held accountable for what they do, just as we are held accountable for what we do by a court of law.

I appreciate your thoughts and comments. It’s good to hear from someone your age who is willing to stand up and voice an opinion. Thank you.

  3. In addition, let me say that conservative values are what makes a healthy society. It is not Christian or non-christian that makes a healthy society, it’s values. What destroys societies is lack of values. Pornography, sexual perversions, homosexuality all caused terrible illnesses that took down prior societies like the Roman Empire. Even Hitler had syphilis and that drove him crazy. Look it up if you don’t believe me. The Romans had diseases from practicing homosexual activities. Lack of values breaks down the family unit, and lack of family unity breaks down a healthy society. History proves that societies that have healthy values do well in advancements and discoveries. You decide for yourself if values plays a role in socieity.

  4. But it would be nigh impossible to lead a totally Christian society today. I would be completely in it, holding the virtues close by forever. Though John describes, in Revelation, the world in a way that makes it seem very bad. I follow these values but I also follow the value of letting people choose. I really don’t know how to say what I want to, so… expect something in the future.

  5. I am not sure I understand where we disagree. It seems we feel the same way. God has given us our agency to choose and to not force any one. I agree whole-heatedly with agency. Don’t confuse values with religion. Religion embraces values but many non-religious and non-Christians embrace values as well. I am saying that societies that uphold values are healthy and advance. Those societies that are indulgent in deviancy become stagnant and do not advance. Like I said, sexual deviancy causes diseases that affect a healthy society in a number of negative ways. My comment about taking a look at ourselves and our own spiritual health was a call for those who are concerned about the second coming and their preparedness to consider their spiritual health. Those who don’t care won’t be affected by my report anyway.

Look, the youth are our future and the hope for a healthier nation. I love the youth and their spirit. I have been teaching 14 to 18 year old in church for several years. However, I have noticed a change in the youth today. They are smart, energetic and love life. They are opinionated and have the nerve to question everything, which I really appreciate. I don’t want our youth to blindingly follow others. I want them to make choices that they know are right because they are leaders of a new generation. I want them to find answers by questioning status quo.

I am glad you call yourself a Christian because that means you believe in God and in our Savior. That will be the guidance you need to make it through the detours in this life and to find the correct pathway. I am very pleased you are questioning my articles. You are a valiant young man, which I am so proud to correspond with. Keep it up, thanks. Judy
